As you know Rhododendrons form one of the largest families of showy flowers that are available in all the stunning hues and designs. In this review we will be discussing a couple of interesting varieties that were introduced in the recent times.
There is a fairly new hybrid variety that has been pretty popular in the North American states. It is popularly known as Nancy Evans Rhododendron. The flower flashes a gentle and warm hue of light yellow. The color patterns change a bit as the flower matures. As is the case of other Rhododendrons, Nancy Evans too has a budding period starting from March end through May. At its budding stage the petals are reddish in tint and as they begin to bloom, the color modifies to a rich bronze. Eventually, the redness is tapered to bring out the soft yellow. The filaments are also yellow but the anthers are dark brown and they look like beautiful spots scattered within the petals. Nancy Evans is highly in demand because the flowers grow quickly and doesn’t take much effort to grow.
Another interesting variety that falls under similar category is known as pachysanthum Crosswater Rhododendrons. Crosswater Rhododendrons are popular for its light pink color, so light that it is almost white. The petals look enigmatically translucent and they have anthers identical to Nancy Evans. Their petals turn from dark rose to pinkish as they mature. These are fairly small plants that don’t grow beyond the height of 100 cm.
